Meet Hicham Chehab
He grew up in Lebanon. Bitter animosity between religiously affiliated people groups was not only normal - it was life. From an early age, he personally experienced attacks at the hands of Christian militia. At age 13, he was recruited by extremists and later fought in the 1975 war in Lebanon. He was on track to become an Imam. When his brother was killed by militia in 1980, he chose to study day and night to take out his revenge. However, reading Jesus' teaching on the Mount in a cultural studies class changed his life. Hicham now works to bring people of different religious beliefs together. He is a respected voice in the both the Arabic and American media and societies and is active in Arab refugee resettlement and immigration efforts in the United States. Hicham is the pastor of Salam Arabic Church, the first Arabic Lutheran church in Chicagoland. Pastor Tim will interview Hicham at both services on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Come and hear his personal story of radical grace and unconditional forgiveness that will inspire us in surprising ways. Who will you invite? |
