WHAT IS ADULT CONFIRMATION?
Adult Confirmation is a 4 month track designed for anyone who wants to discover more about who they are (identity), where they fit (belonging), and what they do (behavior) as follower of Jesus.
But isn't this for kids? Confirmation is usually a discipleship journey we start encouraging to our middle school students. However, the content we learn and experience in Confirmation is foundational for all followers of Jesus.
Why would I want to do this? This is a track designed for Maybe you never went through Confirmation when you were younger or you've forgotten most of what was covered. Perhaps your kids or grandkids will be in Confirmation soon and you want to be ready to walk alongside them. If you are a Jesus follower, you should take Confirmation.
How does this differ from Confirmation for students? The content and requirements are generally similar. However, the adult track is 4 months compared to 24 months for students. The track for middle school students is longer because 1) there is a greater need to provide environments that help them get better connected and develop a sense of belonging and 2) developmentally they need more time and space to grasp and wrestle with abstract concepts. Generally, adults seeking Confirmation already have a sense of connection and belonging, but need a greater focus on content.
When does it start? The Fall cohort runs September-December and the Spring cohort runs February-May.

EXPERIENCES OF CONFIRMATION
Weekly Program
Followers of Jesus make every effort to gather multiple contexts as the Body of Christ.
- Worship – The most important behavior to develop a lasting faith is intergenerational worship. We worship at 8:00am, 9:30am and 11:00 am on Sunday.
- Life Groups – Small group time for discovering who we are and where we fit.
Self-Guided Content Modules
These self-paced modules include topics such as The Big Story of God and Us, How to Read the Bible, The Lord’s Prayer, 10 Commandments, Apostles Creed, Sacraments, and Church History. These interactive video posts include short teaching videos and space for students to share interactive responses. Contact Cary to get started.
Reading the Bible
God speaks to us through His Words, the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17). During your track, you will set a 4-month reading goal. The goal of this is to help you develop a rhythm of learning to listen for God's voice as you read Scripture.
You will submit a Read the Bible Form the first Sunday of each month to share your reflections on what you're reading and how you are hearing God's voice.

- Spring Cohort - 2nd Tuesday of February, March, May; 3rd Tuesday of April
Faith In Action
Participants will lead a Faith in Action project. These projects help us practice identify needs, develop solutions, and leading others to meet needs. The best
In preparation for the project, students must fill out a Faith in Action Pre-Worksheet which will submit their idea to Kristi Kellogg. Following the completion of their project, they must turn in a Faith in Action Report for the project they lead to Angela Wolf. Here is the process for leading a project:

4 weeks out
- Contact Kristi (always CC Matt & Angela) with a project that has a low skill level, 4 hr. completion, $200 budget.
- Recommend your project online upon approval at go.oslc.com/fia
- Identify an adult co-leader (a parent, an adult relative, a coach or mentor). Your co-leader is someone who has the skills and resources to help you complete the task. If you cannot find an adult to help you plan and organize materials, Kristi will recommend a FIA mentor.
- Visit the job site with your co-leader site to assess materials, tools, and contact the client.
- Work together to finish up gathering tools; last week to make adjustments on planning.
- Introduce project to group, invite client to lunch, stay for lunch and report.
Capstone Expression
This is the culmination of what you believe about God and what you have learned throughout your Confirmation experience. Your expression can utilize any expression (song, dance, painting, essay, poetry, video presentation, digital art, and more). Your expression should include the teachings you believe, who you are in Jesus Christ, how you relate to God, how you plan to be part of OSLC in the coming years, how you see people who don’t know Jesus, and your Confirmation verse. This worksheet will help you process your thoughts with leading and reflective questions.
The goal is to be finished with your rough draft by the first Sunday in October for 8th graders (October 3rd for class of 2021 and October 2nd for class of 2022).
