Serve Weekly

Food insecurity is a reality for hundreds of children in Pierce County.  Working with school counselors in the Franklin Pierce School District, the Backpacks 4 Kids program identifies hungry children in local schools and supplies them with child-friendly, nutritious food items to feed them through the weekend. This outreach runs from October to June.
​We also run a Summer food bag  ministry.
Very often, healthy vegetables don't fit into tight grocery budgets. OSLC gardeners are filling that budget gap with our community garden. The Abundance Garden provides hundreds of pounds of fresh produce for our local food bank. Located at the corner of 44th and 112th, we meet every Tuesday during the planting and growing season (May through September). 

Serve Quarterly

Faith in Action volunteers are neighbors who want to be involved in the Parkland-Summit-Waller community through simple acts of service. Our goal is to seek out and respond to needs in and around our area. 

Volunteers meet once a quarter on Saturday from 8:30am to 11:30am. Labor and materials are free of charge. 

The day of service begins at West Campus at 8:30am where we open with prayer (and a light breakfast!). We review the projects for the day, form work crews, and head out to serve our community. You can be a part!

Yearly Events

Our Savior Lutheran Church wants to ensure that kids in our area have adequate supplies to be successful in school.  Every August, the Back to School Fair provides a full backpack of school supplies and a winter to coat to local students. Together, we can help kids in our community get a jump start on a great year.

Joy of Generosity Sunday

Each year, the Board of Elders allocates a tithe of OSLC's annual budget to support local, regional and global ministries.
