Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Endowment Fund?
This is an intentionally created fund to be used for missions and ministry outside of our Financial Operating Plan. The Fund is a dedicated fund much like your personal IRA, 401k, or 403b. Donation dollars are placed into investment accounts. Appriciation, including interest and earnings are then spent for designated purposes.
Can the Fund be used for whatever need arises?
No. Funds can only be used for the designated needs outlined by the OSLC Mission Endowment Fund Policy. Uses include but are not limited to: ministry programs, education, growth opportunities, worship and music, and capital projects.
How does the fund grow?
New donations and appreciated principal are invested in bonds, equities, and other instruments. Gains and interest are re-invested to grow the fund's balance.
Who oversees and administers the fund?
The Our Savior Board of Directors remain accountable for the fund. An elected Endowment Committee recommends how best to administer the fund.
How much can the Endowment Fund really help?
It will enable OSLC to continue pursuing our mission of making disciples who love God, love people, and live like Jesus for future generations. Our goal is to allocate 5% of the fund's balance each year.
