Following Jesus is not about checking the religious box, “having to do” anything, or working hard  to “be a better person”.
Instead, following Jesus is about a free life. Jesus says it best Himself, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).

Instead of checking boxes, Jesus sets the example for how best to love others as God has loved us. Instead of “having to do” anything, we can know our identity as His children- that we are loved and accepted because He has conquered death for us. Out of that love and acceptance, we “get to” serve and care for our neighbors and world. Instead of being “human doings” – striving to do more and better, we get to be human beings and rest in the love and grace of God that makes us “more than enough” through Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross.
